grow if proper cleaning does not take place, bed bugs are not a sign that someone or some place is unsanitary. Bed bugs are parasitic insects that feed on the blood of humans, so they will go anywhere a human is at rest.
Contrary to propular belief, bed bugs are not devoted soley to your bed. Because bed bugs are small and flat, they are able to squeeze into tiny cracks and crevices on the mattress and box spring, behind headboards, and inside furniture. They also hide behind picture frames, in clothing, cloth bags, baseboard trim around your house, and even light switch covers.
Bed bugs are hitchhikers. They travel in luggage, on clothing, inside boxes, and even on the soles of your shoes. They can be found in hotels, movie theaters, banks, doctors offices, schools, on public transportation, and any other public venue.
Bed bugs are maddeningly difficult to treat, even for our well-trained, licensed professionals! You should never attempt to treat bed bugs yourself, or with do-it-yourself products. The products actually interfere with the professional treatment you will need when you discover your home remedies were futile. These products simply drive the bed bugs into hiding. Another side note, DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR BELONGINGS! Most items, including mattresses and furniture, can be treated! This prevents the bugs from being carried through your home or worse yet, spreading them to someone else!
We do not offer or recommend heat treatments. This is a process that was first used when bed bugs infestations were on the rise and consists of simply heating your area or house to 118 degrees for a period of time to attempt to kill the bugs and eggs. This process is not only less effective, but can damage your home and belongings.
We offer a few different options, depending on the severity of the infestation. Typically, we do 3 weekly treatments. This ensures we are killing the bed bugs at each stage of life, as well as, getting any hidden bugs. Sometimes it requires a combination of techniques and insecticides.
The best results come with a team effort from you. We have a checklist that we ask every customer to abide by and follow to ensure you're getting the most out of your time and money with the treatments.
